Republican candidate for Arizona’s 5th congressional district, Mark Anderson, signed the ServeNext Congressional Pledge to Expand National Service on August 12, 2008.

Mark Anderson’s public service record is nothing short of impressive. He has volunteered internationally, including in Zambia, Israel and Thailand to name a few. In the past, he has sponsored legislation to support service-learning and voted for funding for Teach for America in the Arizona House of Representatives.

Anderson is endorsed by David Keene, Chairman of the American Conservative Union, who says, “I am proud to give Mark my full support. He is a man who has a track record of putting principle above politics and being a proven leader who will fight to…those values that strengthen our families, economy and nation.”

His involvement in the community and commitment to public service made him realize that service is “immensely important in developing healthy societies and nations.” With such a successful track record matched with his own personal accounts (not to mention his son being an AmeriCorps volunteer), Mark Anderson’s signing of the ServeNext Pledge demonstrates a very clear commitment to the future of national service from one of Arizona’s leading conservatives.
